Acupressure

Over three thousand years ago the Chinese discovered that there are certain places on the skin (called acupoints) that could affect the flow of energy through vital organs and the major systems of the body such as respiratory, circulatory and, nervous and that this energy flow could be affected by simple touch.

Modern research has identified over 2000 acupoints and can track the pathways or patterns of influence known as meridians.

Experience has shown that this is a highly complex, integrated system of communication that supports the fundamental intelligence and self regulating capacity of the body.

Shortly after WWII the work of Japanese master  Jiro Murai was brought to the United States.  Master Murai's life was one of SERVICE treating the poor and the common illnesses they endured.  He developed a system of acupressure using a limited number of acupoints  in powerful combinations.  Importantly these acupoints not only connected what are commonly called the Organ Meridians (Kidney, Liver, etc.) but the deep, primal Extraordinary Flows.

In the 1970's Aminah Raheem PhD began her study of Master Murai's work and recognized its potential in restoring health not only of the body but of the mind and soul.  Her  pioneering work  Process Acupressure (www.processacupressure.com) is a guiding principle in the development of WeCareVets.

WCV's acupressure is gentle and non- invasive and supports the innate healing wisdom within each of us. The element of human contact and caring is a primary component of WCV and is the foundation of our acupressure work and all our programs.
